South Florida Doula Association

Educate. Advocate. Elevate.

“It takes a village to raise a child” but the village has to be strong too. It is why we believe in supporting one another, through collaboration over competition.”

The Doulas Care Collective is a network of South Florida Doulas who focus on perinatal support. We have come together to provide access to peer support, continuing education, business development opportunities, and further expand community awareness. With a shared belief in fostering a sense of community over the competition, we know that we are stronger together than we are apart, and through the support and encouragement we receive from each other, we can strengthen our work and provide the most consistent, authentic, and beautiful childbearing experience.

What is a Doula?

/ˌdo͞olə/

noun

The word “Doula” has greek origin and means “woman who serves”, but we have come a long way and find that it isn’t exactly a genderified role. To be at service is the very essence of our work. If you were to look back over time and still in many indigenous cultures, there are those individuals – usually women – who tend to the needs of the Mother in labor, nurture the family throughout the childbearing year, and even care for the sick and dying.

Ultimately, a doula is a companion who offers dedicated support when major life transitions are underway.

The DCC’s 4 Pillars

Peer Support

We support one another through guidance and holding space. We discuss, share, and provide constructive feedback for collective growth.

Community Partners

Doulas are one part of perinatal care. Chiropractors, Midwives, and Pelvic Floor Therapists are just a few examples of other professionals we work to connect with.

Business Development

Contracts, billing, and taxes. Oh My! Learn how to grow a successful and sustainable business that will benefit the doula, the parents, and the community.

Self Care

The mom holds the baby and the doula holds the mom, but who holds the doula? We hold you so that you can continue to do what you do without burning yourself out.

Women Supporting Women

Who We Support

Doulas

The primary purpose of the DCC is for us doulas to support one another, to be supported and support our doula sisters. The more support we have, the better we can serve the families that hire us. Starting your doula practice, being on-call or even childcare can be very challenging but we don’t have to do it alone. We are here and we are stronger together.

Families

We are so glad you found us! We know that welcoming a new member into your family can be both exciting and overwhelming at times. It is our goal that no matter where you are in your journey, you always feel right at home with the Doulas Care Collective (DCC). We are honored to be a part of this important chapter in your life and look forward to supporting you.

Perinatal Professionals

When it comes to pregnancy, birth and postpartum care, many professionals can be invloved. We are all on the same team, YOUR team. Here at the DCC, we thrive to build bridges a.k.a. a network of caring experts so we know where you can find the help you need.

Community

When we support families, doulas and other perinatal professionals we also support our community because it is where our heart is. We are right here, close to you. We don’t need to look very far to see individuals and families with the need to be supported and honestly we all need a little help and to be held at times. Based out of South Florida, we have our community at heart.
